Ireland

So, yes, the Ireland road trip was amazing. A lot of laughs, amazing sights and of course...Guiness!! - I found I enjoyed it more when I was starving...it really is like a meal! We met Mum & Dad Sherwinator and, Lin and Greg, in Cork, made our way to Kilkeny then up into the beautiful mountains to Gendolough (which was spectacular) and finally to Dublin. In the mountains, we stayed in a B&B owned by a CRAZY Irish lady and she had equally as crazy friends that helped her. We were entertained and shocked, not able to get a word in edgeways...but we were so welcomed and made to feel like 'part of the family' really! We visited lots of old monastic sites, towers and ruins...hard to comprehend that you are walking over the bones of monks hundreds of years old!

I will try and get Paul to create a link to more photos so you can kind of see what it was like :) So, yes, we are keen to get back there and explore the North...

Oh dear....

Well, high on our Ireland trip, we weren't ready for the calamity to come.
The steroid-like tomato plants have proved to be too big for their boots and have crumbled under the pressure. Not to sure what to do about this so we'll just leave them and see what happens shall we...!

Notting Hill Carnival

Hi!

Here are some pics from the Notting Hill Carnival which was on a couple of weekends ago. It is an Afro-caribbean carnival and is apparently the biggest carnival in Europe so was pretty crazy! Great food and music but was a mammoth effort to get home with most of the tube stations shut and just masses of people and cops everywhere! We grabbed prime position for the actual carnival procession, standing in our spot for about 1 1/2 hours before it started. Then 5 mins into it, Paul decides we need to go and find a toilet because he is busting and couldn't possibly hold on until the end....so off we go, lose our spot and can't see any more of the carnival because of the crowds! Not happy! Luckily we managed to bump into some weirdo elvis dancers (check out the pic!), and the lady on the right kept us entertained for ages!

We have 2 of Paul's mates staying with us at the moment - Burling and Sakai. They have been travelling for the last few months and are crashing with us while they go through the ever familiar process of finding work and a place to live.

Tomato update: As the picture shows they are going a bit wild! We are yet to taste the fruits of our labour but hopefully as the weather has warmed up a bit again....we will get some red tommies soon.

We are off to Ireland in a few days so will be back with a few more stories then I'm sure!
